But then again, his assertions about scofflaw cyclists is supported by the posts in the A&S forum.

Note there are a few cyclists whop post here to follow the law, most find a reason to not.

And posters on BF thereby represent all cyclists, eh?

Super article.

But I think that the answer really boils down to something more simple: "everyone's an expert". Or thinks they are.

You mean, just like drivers find a reason to justify speeding or rolling through stop signs?

Or maybe as Carlin used to say... “Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?”

I think the same thing applies, but in a bigger manner, when "anybody" is riding a bike or walking. It's always "the other guy..."

But I don't have to. It's been summarized and explained in a few ways, a few times

I already knew that. It's like if you skin your knee it hurts.

Avoid addressing the shortcomings of cyclists by somehow making it all about the motorists. Typical.

This. The article could also be summarized as hatred is a tribal thing. Cyclists are not in the same tribe as those who use our roads exclusively in cars, so they are hated.
