One thing is for sure, and that is that the folks with the bamboo structures aren't cycling all winter, at least not outside of the city center as the roads aren't plowed in many places, and it's a giant pain in the ass to actually get anywhere. I did it for years and then finally gave up as it just took so long and road conditions are so unpredictable. The three minute ride in the summer to the main road takes about 20 minutes in the winter, and it's about 1 km. Most people use public transport in the winter in Latvia.

Would obviously depend on the size of the human and the method. I wonder how many people thought they were surrounded by scaffolding for renovation.
