Cycling in Cape Town/South Africa
I am traveling in Africa and I should be arriving in Cape Town in mid February. My plan is to spend a month there in a cheap rental and purchase a used bike. Found out that the Argus tour will be happening while I am there! I should have time to get back in shape.
What is the best way to get a used bike? Gumtree? Is there another website to use for S.A. cycling?

Oh I'm looking to be in Cape Town in March! Tycho, if you're still there March 9th, see if you can watch some of the Cycle Tour, Cape Town Cycle Tour ? World's Largest Timed Cycle Race I'm going to miss it I'm arriving March 10th. Also you should think about taking your bike with you places, it's relatively not that expensive to take sporting goods with you on flights, well depending on the airline. Virgin is awesome about that, only like $50! United, not so much at 3 times the price. I'll be on British Airways, so I don't know what the specifics are.
But whatever you figured out from your trip so far post it up, I'll look forward to it. Also if you're still down there, we should totally hang out!

don't ride alone ... always ride in a group. I used to live in South Africa for over 35 years.
The South African Rand (currency) is weak, so it may be worthwhile buying a used bike there. Look in the local newspapers
