Your photo made me sniffle some...I've been at that same spot many times in my younger days (although unfortunately never with a bicycle).

Do you still have the ability to raise and lower the seat? That's great .

Made this one about 5 years ago for a laugh with some friends. Damn near unrideable....

It had a motorcycle front wheel as a rear and a 5 speed jackshaft. Heavy and stoopid....but kinda fun

hey hillsy, rig up a front wheel generator behind the front fork so the headlight will work but it still will look clean

and btw your chain set-up looks like something Escher would've come up with

Heck, the HD bag is worth money all on it's own. Cool find, and it should clean up nicely!

OK found some more pics....

Bike has been "decommissioned" so to speak. I still have all the bits, but I won't be re-assembling it. It was horrid to ride, partly because the geometry was crap, and partly cause the forks were too flexy. Rear wheel was the front off a Yamaha FZR250, fork clamps were off a Honda CT110 (postie bikes in Oz)

Anyway, the gearing jackshaft used an elongated axle and widened freewheel hub to meet the chainline of the wide rear wheel. A 2nd derailer was used on the final chain to take care of the fact that I wasn't able to centre either of the final sprockets (too much beer ) It was a complicated set-up, but the only way I could think of to get 5 speeds on it.....

It had a fairly tuff stance in that last photo, eh?

Yeah...!

Too bad it didn't ride as nicely as it looked, but even with a lot of beer, it sounds as if it was still dangerous . Thanks for finding the other photos .

Just a little update on my tall bike project....

I modified the front fork a bit... chopped it down and used two of the original top bikes chain-stay tubes ... then I welded some old wrenches in the form of cross-bones... =) My personal touch!
