Aquacycles

These are some cool designs from the 1890's. Anyone ever try to build one?

There are commercially available versions of the third one. You usually see them at ocean resorts.

Here's my aquachopper:

For more pictures of the Guerilla Flotilla, go here:

From there you can see even more by clicking on the link to the '05 event, or follow the links to CHVNK 666's own aquachopper efforts.

Thanks! I gliders...just too damn dangerous! One wrong warm current, and you will stall and die.

Not a glider but a bicycle-aircraft:

Regarding flying bikes:

Seeing as airplanes were basically invented by freakbikers who were told it couldn't be done (no better way to inspire someone to build something), it seems only natural that bikes progress into the water and then into the air.

I have some friends who were commissioned to build a pedal-powered blimp for Burning Man. However, they discovered that no amount of pedal-powered propeller action could sway the blimp from going whatever direction the wind wanted. So they just dropped the pedal-power part.

Naturally, the next step is pedal-powered spaceflight. Why carry food AND fuel when the two can be the same thing?

Oh, and by the way, I thought we were talking about fully amphibious bikes. Building a human-powered boat is easy, you just get something that floats and sit on it with a paddle. A paddle-boat is just adding pedals to that. Ideally the vehicle should be able to transition from land to sea without modification, as we have finally acheived in the Rat Patrol. This allows us to go to other cities and taunt them: "If this is your turf, come out here and defend it!"

Of course, nothing is cooler than the pedal-powered hovercraft at hovercraft.com. Having a hoverchopper gang would be the coolest.
