humor me, please

new to bikes, decide to make a lowrider/cruiser type bike out of an old schwinn breeze(i believe) but wanted to know if theres a way to fix a hub/rear wheel that i can use for a left side drive bicycle and still have the crank in right direction, i dont like the idea of a fixed gear/coaster brake though, just tryin to be different, just let me know if its possible to pull this off or if this idea needs to stop dead in its tracks, thanks in advance :p

p.s. should i post this in the Bike Mechanics instead?

AFIK, the only way to pull this off would be with a fixe hub.

It can be done. several BMX suppliers sell left hubs and freewheels to put the chain on the left side.

Yup, LSD is pretty common in the BMX world.
Here's how my Seshin is set up:

Keep in mind that the hubs are spaced 110mm, and come in 36 or 48 hole, 3/8" or 14mm axles.

thanks ld, what brand hubs are they?

Lyle, what kind of Seshin is it, the Liger or the Megatron?

I've been curious about this.... what is the motivation here?

I saw a pic of a fixie once that had a dual drive system -- a drivetrain on bothsides. Now that is sweet!

BMXers will go with a left side drive for tricks like grinding because they can do those tricks better on the right side. Fixed gears will do it to be different. The dual side drive you saw might have been done with 2 normal freewheels working in opposite directions. You have to be careful with a LSD not to strip the pedals out of the cranks. Use a left side specific crank such as a bmx or tandem crank.

Actually, I suck at grinds and spins to my right side, left is where it is at for me.
