1 inch disc brake fork
I'm trying to put a disc brake on the front of my 1 in headtube road bike for as little as possible.
as it stands i feel like there are 2 options.. braze-on a mount or get a custom fork... any ideas? |
check out nashbar.com and maybe get the cyclocross fork for 89.99 it comes in a 1" threadless and has disc mounts
then you can saw off the braze-ons for canti mounts and just have a fork with a disc mount... otherwise look on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.ca/Dimension-Cross-f...QQcmdZViewItem might be exactly what you are looking for... |
thanks man... i think i'll get that one on ebay.. weird how i couldn't find it.. i've been looking forever

disc brakes are - in my opinion - for show and not for practical use. my v-brakes will lock up my 50 pound gravity bike and my 200lbs of flesh and leather at any speed, easily. even in muddy conditions i think many would call disc brakes a marginal advantage. ive heard other gravity bikers complain about (by the way we travel at speeds up to, and sometimes in excess of 60 mph) the disc rotar itself getting bent too easily in transit up and down the mountain, in crashes, or while shipping. just something to think about. fast eddie outty

I went with discs on my MTB, won't ever go back. I stop as quickly in icy, wet weather as I do on dry summer days. I can lock up securely with little effort when needed and they generally feel better than V's. Just make sure you're buying quality parts. The ONLY discs brakes that are 'just for show' are the ones on department store bikes.

That's the same fork I quoted but at 9$ less +shipping, and the shipping you can choose a lower price option.
