Hey, anyone on here "invent" anything?
I'm really just complaining about some hack that wrote an article about a little old man who "Invented a motorized mountain bicycle". I blogged about it here.
|
I did invent but the man stole the idea.
|
I invented a carburettor that allows any vehicle to get well over 100mpg while still maintaining all of it's original power, but the oil company's stole the blueprints, destroyed them and drugged me so I can't recall how I did it.

I had the concept for the MAC machine long before it was ever brought to market. there are other things that I've conceptualized and have come to market 5-10-15 years later. :(

"Question: Why did you decide to motorize your bike?
Answer: Normally just the motorizing kits run from $400 to $900. I realized I could build my own in my shop." It's a fluff piece that stretches the meaning of the word invention. Nobody is saying he's the first to motorize a bike. Just that he's clever and handy. More egregious is: "Not only is it safer for the environment than a car or motorcycle..." and (if you're not a helmet fan): "...all around town — with a helmet, of course." |
I invented ice.

His invention is called a motorcycle. They have been around for a little while.
|
I invented a couple of things. My name is on two "patent pending" inventions in the US and one in China. They're nothing interesting though, pretty specific to what I was doing at my last job.
|
I are inventor!
My name is on a patent application, listed as an inventor. So it's official. Although it was more just communicating an idea to a manufacturer than actual inventoring on my part... a case of being a name to attach to a piece of paper a company will use to make something proprietary. I forgot until I was notified that I was going to be listed as an inventor on the patent application that when I was, like, 4, I desperately wanted to be an inventor. I forgot it somewhere early among the intervening years and then this pretty inconsequential thing came along and totally satisfied some very early dream. I was well chuffed and stoked, much more than I would have been without realizing that childhood yearning. One of the reasons I like bikes is to tinker with them. |
i wanted to be an inventor too! i designed a kind of audio mixing console that is way better suited to way more applications than what y'ad normally find being used at band practice, but then i found out how expensive it was to patent something and i didnt follow through.

Uh....
Why the hell does it have training wheels? Sorry if it was explained in the article, it was too boring to read. |
He's old.
|
Yes, and I could tell you the details but then I'd have to kill you...
Actually, while I haven't patented anything, I have developed a couple of items and software tools. My most successful design was a unique flying-wing paper airplane that took a bronze medal in Aerobatics at the 2nd Great International Paper Airplane Contest, and was later displayed in the Smithsonian and included in the book "The Paper Airplane Book, The Official Book of the Second Great International Paper Airplane Contest" |
I invented a quick, easy system to make sure I had food without hassles.
Now I'm a Clydesdale. |
Mint-flavored dog biscuits. Sadly, I never did anything with the idea, and they eventually came to market.

I invented a parking brake for my bicycle. You take the big rubber bands that come with broccoli and loop them twice around your handlebars, and just stretch it around the brake lever when you want to park it. My mother always said I was a genius.
|
This poor old guy should do some checking into history. Harley Davidson motorcycle started out as a bicycle company and moved into motor-bicycles. Of course there have been many other companies on down the line as well.
|
Don't they have brake levers with a little catch to keep the brake engaged? I know they make them for motorcycles.
