I scratched the frame up pretty good putting the front collar on so I had to temporarily wrap around it with part of a mylar envelope from Canada until I can patch it up and use a bad tube. I could route the wiring inside it though, trim it and apply my spare vinyl over it too. I'm going to run the wiring through the tank as well and use that bad tube to seal the end as well, vinyl too over it (not the right one, a Columbia, remember so I had to adapt it. It was multicoated with white spraypaint to start with though and should be okay inside.

I have two Signal-Stat amber 'bullet' markers (would normally sit on the roof of a truck or tractor for turn signals and will mount a red taillamp down the center that I hope to find a way to rig a braking sensor for (have heard of this on a Schwinn and would like more info).

Lots more to do, not just on the bike but about the house as winter tries to settle in (it's going to be 60 here and about 70 northward around Pendleton, OR). I will adjust the trim to sit level and put the saddlebags in for now. I'm hoping the front basket will work as part of the framework for the fairing.

I decided to try mounting the two marker nacelles from an actual motorcycle fairing (forget which brand but it's WAY BACK THERE ib the storyline) and this is what I got in a trial run...

    The fenders are going together!

Hang on, the homestretch is in sight for this project as I'm installing new fender braces and the reflectors and SOON...all that will remain is to finish the fairing, lights and wiring.

Oh, and I mustn't forget the cover over the rear rack.

    PICTURES LATER TODAY...I PROMISE

Day late...sorry I've been sleeping days too much.

Here is the news so far. I have new braces on, unpainted and need to attach the reflectors. I have those two holes on the front fender for a headlamp, maybe I should install one as an auxilliary.

I have a sknny Torpedo, it's red right now, unless it was stolen with Kayleigh...I saw the lens on the stand behind me so I believe it's in the parts box on the loveseat...I'll dig.

I found the lens cap I made but not the tube yet. I do have a fat Torpedo, at least part ot it but the mounting is a bracket and not right.

EDIT: Found the fat Torpedo's front loading bezel/battery holder!

My first ride on Tempest will be dedicated to TCR.

I'm not sure I really know TCR but for all the times I thought my dream was gone I felt it was a good tribute.

ROLL FAST, TCR. The wind is forever at your back.
    I meant it...

I'm still having problems with the fender braces though...the forward one came off on the rear to get it to work and SOMEHOW the front brace is STILL not right...it's for a 26", it should work but???

Joe the LBS man put some extensions on the front and removed a brace on the rear and now both bikes have fenders.

Next up, the Phantom tank is soon to be installed on Germaine, plus designing a mount for a 70s Hondaline motorcycle fairing!

My maternal grandma was laid to rest this last week, she was 94 and was and will always be my best buddy. Quiet on the bicycle front and lot of storminess and wind some of it as well. Winter didn't want to willingly leave the wrestling ring.

Money is tighter and my maternal grandmother died last month plus I've been spring cleaning and selling stuff to pay bills AND the body shop guy I had to help with Germaine's Honda saddlebag installations had an employee retire and is really busy training a new worker so things have been pretty slow on the bicycle front.

I still hope to be finished by June 26, my 47th birthday and one year anniversary of putting Tempest back on the road.

We'll see you HERE and on You Tube when that day happens!

    Tank!

No Sherman, a BICYCLE tank? More precisely, a tank for my Schwinn is now ready to mount, with the saddlebags to be finished at the sign shop by Wednesday I'm told!

    It's a friend's birthday this month...

and he needed a small ladies' frame for his girlfriend...and rear basket for his Torker Tri-Star.

So I rounded up the 24" Ross frame and all the parts I had for it to finish it with and gave it to him today.

I had the LBS owner look for a basket for him as well. I owed him some but the rest I just gave.

He's pretty good with bike mechanics and I know he'll make something good of her.

Back to work...Still running short and my goal might be a little squeezed but I'll do all I can.

I bought some white and blue spray paint and heavy grit sandpaper to start getting the 26" ladies' J.C. Higgins cleaned up.

The seven post is just horribly rusty at the tube.

Tempest needs a front brace on the front fender...it just wobbles too much and I have a chromed fender light on the way from a CABE member (I'm Saving Tempest there if you ever stop by). I plan to use the center hole of the brace and bolt it with one of the light's bolts. Another CABE member is converting my original Higgins coaster brake hub to 1/2" as I switch it over for the sake of the person it will be given to as a gift someday.

A middleweight 50s 26" men's Huffy is half here...a friend in Miami (not Jim but if you've ever been to the planetarium there he operates the 'mini-Claudia' star projector-one of two left in the world or at least using an analog computer-and audio as well as coordinating the audiovisual shows) said he didn't want to see it rust out in Florida...three different chainguards, the rack, wheels and other parts are already here and he's waiting until he can afford to send the frame. Earlier this year he sent me a Standard saddle with the radial springing and faux alligator or something cover!

My house passed the yearly inspection, I'm getting the house in order with my video and audio gear, making mixtapes and getting out on my bikes as much as I can between work and naps...and my cats are happy!

Finding new front wheels for both Tempest and Germaine...

Stripped thread on one side of the axle and the bearing just keep going out respectively.

Should honestly just relace 'em myself with better hubs. It's gotten silly.
