Tall Bikes on Parade

The Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas did its third entry in the Big Jingle Jubilee Holiday parade this year. The weather was perfect.

We had a greater range of bikes than ever before, including foldies, MTBs, road bikes, a hand made recumbent, and a tandem recumbent. Also a couple of people from the Arkansas Sustainability Network brought along their tall bikes. The tall bikes were real crowd pleasers, and they coped with the start-stop nature of a parade by constantly circulating around other bikes and between them.

I was on my Giant Stiletto chopper, and I kept circulating like a shark and with my fat tires I could do very tight, high speed doughnuts. Woo hoo!

Folks there also liked the Santa hat on my helmet. I wear it from the parade to Christmas. I find it softens the reactions of some drivers during this busy holiday season.

How many riders turned out total? It looks like a very happy group--even if you forgot to take a photo of yourself on the chopper !

We had 14 riders in the parade including a couple of guys who were on foldies on the side of the parade, and as we passed them I invited them into the parade and they accepted.

Oh, that's cool! I think that would be fun to be watching a parade and then get invited to participate .

Absolutely I would join in!
