what do you guys call your bikes, what kind of bikes are they, and why'd you call em it right now i don't have a name for mine

From an old Garfield comic: "What's the point of naming something that won't come when you call it?"

So no, my bike does not have a name. Nor my cars or other personal possessions.

My bikes names are more just nicknames, like Stumpy, Rocky....or if it's a short name then it's not nicknamed, just medici.

As creative as i've gotten with the names is my Bianchi road bike, which i've scraped off the "N" and the "i" so now it's my Biach!

I should probably name one sally, so I can ride sally ride.

Hulk.
She dresses like Hulk Hogan. Red & orange handlebars wrap.

I once had a road bike I called the proctologist.:eek::D

That's what they are, just nicknames really. And most of my cycles have nicknames...

Tigger . . . that's an orange Greenspeed tandem recumbent trike.

Gordon . . . An XL BikeE with a 2nd seat (for the kids)

Ernesto . . . My favorite DF road bike. (a Colnago)

And the rest all start with "The"...

The Clive, The Ferrari, The Steel Merlin, The Hurri', The Secret Weapon Bike, The ThePiss, The Cannonball, The Interclub, The Lobster, etc.

That way, even if I'm the only rider, I'm still riding with a "friend"! :D
Or in a few cases, my "kids", as I have lovingly nurtured them to full bikes, from the spoke nipples on out. :rolleyes:

Is it any wonder that I rarely offer a bike for sale? :p

Appropriate! Great minds think alike I guess- I nicknamed my '92 Thebis 'The Mercedes' since it looked like the first 3-wheel Mercedes; no curves, different sized spoked wheels, and high seat.

Most of my bikes have names, some don't. Besik, Peugeot, Oryx, Pomme verte, Miyata, Char d'assault, Bike de merde - this one translates to "Piece of **** bike". Haven't actually tried to name a bike, it's just something that kinda happens, say the bike earns the name or someone makes a joke and it sticks or something.

Given my aging "motor", expanding middle and double digit annual mileage these days, it's the bike that I can go fastest on! It used to be Ernesto, my Colnago, but these days drop bars kill my neck after 10 miles. :eek:

So the current SWB is a Tour Easy! :p


And for countersTrike, the Thebis got the nickname from the condition I got it in.
The guy I got it from had a "pet" bobcat!

"Where does a pet bobcat go pee?"

Answer; "Anywhere it wants to!" :rolleyes:

So the trike was covered in bobcat piss. Hence the appropriate nickname.

I don't name my bikes. You shouldn't anthropomorphize bikes, they don't like it when you do that.
