Folk, I need a critique and suggestions on this trike design....

OK, I have the prototype out for the worlds fastest power assist trike. One issue I'm having though is high speed stability. At about 330 MPH, the steering gets a little bit light. Any suggestions would be welcome! I thought about posting this in recumbents or Ebikes, but I thought y'all in Alt Bikes might have some better ideas since you think outside the box.

Specs:
Trike base: Sun EZ-3 SX

Assist: Ion Drive
Power supply: Miniturized TOKAMAK Fusion unit
Max range: 210 miles/ gram of Deuterium
Max Speed: ? , It gets too squirrely above the mentioned speed.

A fairing, roll bar, lighter trike. I know! Ask Hotbike!!!

rub it down with blue star ointment.

The wheelbase is way too short, you need to look at something like the old Blue Flame for the configuration.

And at 330 MPH, you definitely need a fairing to avoid that open-mouth-on-the-window look.

A responsible rider at 330 MPH would have pads and full-face helmet rather than just jeans and sweater. Safety first!

You need a couple of small wings on the helmet to provide you with extra down force as you need it. ;)

Higher gearing might help you get to 400.

well, first off you need three arrospok wheels they cost 50 dorra each.

second you need a pursuit style helmet, or just ditch the helmet alltogether, just make sure to gel and slick your hair back before the run for max efficiency.

then you have to look at your downforce. I would go with a aluminum adjustable spoiler. They are easy to aquire if you have some allen wrenches and live near a highschool. You can remove the wing from the first Cavalier that you see, don't feel bad about it, you are actually doing them a favor.

also, use a lighter-then-air gas in the tires and run a low psi to keep weight down. I prefer 5-6.6 psi of pure hydrogen.

finally, speed holes. You need a good set of drill bits, but you can achieve almost 100% drag efficiency with the proper addition of speed holes to the frame. Proper speed holes will transate into 50% x 100 x pi x mph/ft/lb^2 efficiency betterment.

also, I allmost forgots, make sure you wear earplugs because the pressure levels git high around the sound barrier. even better are some earbud headphones and some kenny logins.

I like the way y'all think! :D

Are you making Crazy Lady be the test pilot for this thing? Oh, and I like the idea of some decorative drillium.

My Step-Mother has a trike like that. My Dad's a retired rocket scientist. Hmmmm.

Good old number 32.............

jsharr 04-02-08 09:34 PM

Um, the GM Goodwrench car has never carried a 32. It was the 3 car until Dale died, then it was the 29 car with Harvick.

randya 04-03-08 01:29 PM

29 + 3 = 32

;)

Personally, I think you should scrap the 3 wheel idea. 2 wheels are already proven to be faster. This guy doesn't even have a motor and he's smoking up the pavement.

Unfortunately, the wife has only one inner ear (Casualty of a removal of a cancerous tumor in her ear canal and temporal region of the skull), so a trike is the only option. She can't stay upright on 2 wheels.

(That's a real world part of this post)

Cool videos, Tom- Be sure and note the proper Jet Bike riding stance from the 2nd one. But the 3rd one is the one for me. Ain't nobody gonna draft you with that, either!

Do not forget your Nomex bibs and biking shirt.
