Advice Needed.

Hello everyone from BikeForums. Having visited this site before and enjoying reading the threads immensely, I finally registered for an account. I know you guys offer good advice for a bicyclist's lifestyle, so here goes.

I recently purchased a bike from my boy Carlos down the block. He hooked me up with a scraper bike. I was rollin through the avenue one day, and brothas bangin in dey cutlass supreme and escalades on 22's was hatin'. They be callin me *****made and sayin "you can't tap no ass on a bicycle"

It all happened something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geIsWq5xOSE

So basically, I now find myself at a crossroads of sorts (pardon the pun). I heavily invested myself, both in time and funds, in this bicycle, and I'm starting to have doubts about it's usefulness and effect on my ability to meet women.

Have any of you experienced difficulties in meeting women with a bicycle as your only form of transportation?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
-Jamal

Bullshi*, we had a weekend manager where I work who has since moved. He was not beefcake or anything special. Was also carfree had a piece of crap fixie conversion. Nor did he have any education other than your typical hs diploma. He was really popular with the ladies as soon as a relationship was over he would have a new girlfriend in a week easily. Dude, it's all about charisma and the right attitude, seriously chat them up and keep at it. I will admit a new luxury sports car like a convertible ferrari will get you a lot of play at certain clubs the really vain and shallow places where it's all about what you dress like what you drive and where you work how much money you have, pathetic if that is what defines you. I have ridden my bike to dance clubs before and one thing you got going for you is you get noticed that is half the game there. Anyway post a pic of your bike I have been dying to see some scraper bikes I have only seen one in houston so far.

Edit: There are bars at least in houston where it is cooler to be rolling on a bike than a car.

Scraper biking is all about showboating on bikes, I guess? And the problem is, how to compete with people doing similar things in cars? I know zero about how things work in your corner of the world, but there are fundamental principles and all that.

I'm thinking the answer is a small group doing coordinated bike stunts, sort of like Harlem Globetrotters on wheels. The "in-group-ness" of a coordinated squad will trump the "out-group-ness" of being an individual guy on a bike. The leader of the squad will attract the most female attention, so be sure to take turns pretending to be the leader (everyone else serving as wing men).

Answer to last question is no. The scraper bike stuff though is different. What Platy said, take it to a higher level and you'll get more action than you can handle. That goes for any career. Since I ditched the car I get more opportunities than I can handle. I don't know what it is, being happier, being healthier, having more money? They can't tell the money part so that must not be it. But it might be the location and time of life as one woman told me- "I don't see many guys your age going out and having fun like you do." For a younger guy, being physically active isn't such a distinction.

I actually saw a scraper bike in real life a few months ago. It's really weird seeing stupid internet gags in the outside world.

Around here, it's a car-oriented-world, so yeah, it helps to drive a car. On the other hand, as best I can tell, women are attracted by a guy's personality more than anything else. So don't expect owning a car or changing deoderant or wearing cool clothes or other similar steps to make a huge difference in the romance department.

I just noticed that cool titanium atom in the signature above, too. ^ ^ ^

Here in Orange County, parking is impossible at the beach. Everbody rides their bike. If you drive up in a Corvette or Ferrari, you're an old guy with a Viagra prescription & a hairpiece. Serious laughage. Nothing like seeing hordes of young supermodel types on beach cruisers or bike boom era 10 speeds looking for a way to spend the day.

Picked up a nice blond at a bar in Newport Beach. When she found out I rode there, she asked to feel my butt. Guess I passed the test, 'cause than she asked me to feel hers. Things escalated nicely.

Depends where you go & what yer looking for. Haven't seen any scrapers here, but time will tell.

I would not assume that the Corvette or Ferrari is the issue in that case, and the guy that gets serious laughage in such a car isn't going to do a lot better rolling up on a bicycle.

Yeah I agree with frameteam, if you are riding a bike to get chicks, you need to go where the chicks that dig bikes hang out. Alt bars, universities, parks. It sounds like you really like being on a bike, and that you really like what you're scraping on now. Just go with it and be confident. That's the only real aphrodisiac that I know of. Get out there and giv'er!

I have noted older women seem to dig my Rollfast and would stop to look it over while their husbands gave it a cursory glance.

Should I have bought a tandem? No sir! I don't live the country songs I love and believe the 45s are made of vinyl and it's best to get a groove on than get the lead out.

It may be my imagination, but it seems like women around my age are friendlier when I'm on my bicycle than when I'm not. Maybe they're secretly laughing at me. Maybe they just appreciate the fact that I'm doing something physical, as opposed to being parked in a lazyboy. Maybe it's in my head, who knows.

OP,
Here's the best advice for your situation you'll get on bike forums:

The next time some foo be hatin on yo scrapah, pull yo heater and blast that ***** back to compton. Fo real yo, mad *****es be frontin up in the hood and you got to regalate to get yo respeck.

Conversly, you could:

Jack dat *****ass' escalade and pick up some shawties.

I hope everything works out.
