My first chopper(sort of)

By the tittle you have probably guessed what I am posting. here is my first modification on any bike! It originally came from a Huffy Durasport. I bolted a 27" fork to another of the same and took the old 2 speed sprocket and replaced it with BMX sprocket along with some new handle bars. I need to paint the fork black and repaint the rims.

enjoy:D

Good go for the first "mod''...not to complicated yet something different

very nice looking, but you might look into jury-rigging a front brake. They do most of the work and it could be a little tough to stop for emergencies.

i realize that clearly this is a custom job and therefore safety is of less concern, but i figured that since you still have the rear brake fitted instead of ripping it off for looks, you are probably still thinking about stopping your bike.

yeah I guess I could find a way of putting in a front brake, but I love the simplicity:love:

Nice mod. 40+ years ago we would cut the fork arms off one set and shove them up into the other and weld them together  O yes chopper now rode well at the time also.

Thanks! I would've done the same if i knew how to weld:D but someday I will learn.

I love what you did with the forks, probably not the most structurally sound, but hey just keep checking it and it shouldn't be that bad. EVen though most of the braking comes from the front I WOULD NOT PUT A FRONT BRAKE ON THIS BIKE, simply because of how you have the fork set up. Get the brakes in the back tuned enough that you can skid the tire, any good brake should be able to be tuned to do this.

Believe me, these brakes are not the best, far from anything that should be on there:D, but the arms were the perfect size because the frame would normally have a 27" wheel rather than the 26" I have on there now

INTERESTING! I like how NEAT the application is (attention to detail). If this is your "first" bike mod, then it should be "VERY INTERESTING" to see where it leads you, in the next few years.......It becomes addicting. Welcome to the club.

You'd be able to get away with a shorter length brake if you mount them on the other side. In that case though you're pulling away from the stay as opposed to pushing into it.

Get that fork welded by someone, then you can think about putting some brakes on it. Its cool. I like it! If you make more mods on it, post em!

Thanks KOTA, I am thinking about a full suspension design for the future, but it may require some welding:rolleyes:

Yes welding is a great dissadvantage on my part:( but I wish I could easily get the tools and the Know-How

But then again I don't really have a place to weld:p (Brain Computing)
