Renovo is making them out of engineered (composite) bamboo. However, I must say that I like the Panda's bamboo-stalk tubes.

There's actually quite of few Bamboo Bike companies around nowadays. Some buddies of mine in New York have been making bamboo bikes for a while now. And though they've had a few issues in the beginning, they say their frames are holding up well now. I think use a mixture of bamboo and carbon
