That whole thing is bulls**t. They don't even ride up the hill, they take a train. Maybe if they had gears... :-P ;-)

That being said, it was pretty fun the couple of times I've done it.

I know I know... I was mostly joking. Although I do think they should maybe organize part of it for people to ride up then back down. Seems more 'honest' or something.

there is a 'badass challenge' once or twice a year where people race up from the downtown pyle to the top of the hill on one-speed minis (16" wheels or smaller), it's about 800'+ of elevation gain, is that 'honest' enough for you?

Only if they're blindfolded... and they have to smoke 3 packs of cigarettes within 1 hour of the race.

I'm just sayin, for me, going down a big hill is way more rewarding if I just busted my arse going UP a big hill...

I always see this one roadie riding up the hill at about 10:30 every Sunday night, while we're going down on first run

I find that I get plenty of exercise riding my little bike from my house to the train and back again at the end of the night, and there is some uphill on the road to get to the start; after doing that three or more times half drunk in the dark I feel like I got a pretty good workout, more than on my weekday commute for sure...

except no bars involved, it's strictly BYOB, and the party is usually in a discrete outdoor public space, several actually, since it moves around throughout the night
