What you think?

My weld and fabrication skills are shat, but I am a decent mechanic. I took my son's old Jesse James/West Coast Choppers bike and had a little fun with it. I removed the fake gas tank, painted it black, found a longer seat post and a cruiser bike saddle, then put a new stem and riser bars, ditching the rear fender and chain guard. To top it off I put a 26" front wheel on it with a 2.1" Ritchey Moby-Bite tire. I did take the trouble to repack the rear hub and bottom bracket.

The frame and fork are cheap steel, and the bike was bought from Big Lots, a closeout store chain, for around $50. The bars are off my tandem, the stem was a spare from a local bike shop, the wheel from a pile of wheels from my former employer, the post and saddle from a another spare parts box I have, and the tire was to be thrown away at another bike shop.

I know the timing of this is odd with the whole Jesse James/Sandra Bullock cheating mess that I really don't give a damn about. Then my dog photo bombs me.

The saddle angle and chain slack have been fixed since photo was taken.

Did you fabricate the chainring?

Looks pretty cool. How does it ride?

Chainring came with it, I just painted it. It is a bit twitchy to ride.

I think it would look better with either a narrow straight bar or huge ape hangers instead of the mid-risers.

Then again I think that about all bikes.

I totally agree!

Wanna know what you can "really" do to that bike?........Kenny P, one of the best builders around.

Very nice. However, I tend to set things on fire with a welder, particularly my pants!
