Introducing the "pedal stand"
Hi All,
As an avid cycling commuter, I spend a lot of time thinking about how to improve the experience. Lately I've been working on a means of balancing while stationary. Of course one can always track stand, but we all know how hard it can be. So, here's my latest solution: the pedal stand. The pedal stand deploys a small stand when you pedal in reverse that allows you to balance comfortably while stationary, without leaving your pedals. The stand retracts when you pedal forwards.

IMO you may have more success with this if it were to be fixed to clipless pedals. Good job.

Well the video is poor quality & very short, but it looks like a clever idea. It could lead to disaster if you weren't careful everytime you used it.

The OP made it clear that it's his device ... so he doesn't fit the definition of a shill.
A shill pretends to be a satisfied customer when he's really the owner or an employee or something -- it's deceptive. At most, he's simply advertising, but since the product isn't even for sale yet, it looks more like showing off to me. (Which ought to be OK.)
Seems pretty clever to me. I don't know that I'd buy one, but the idea is interesting. I'm also not so sure that it's an accident waiting to happen, though it certainly could cause drama for those who like to pedal backwards. (But a few scraping incidents and I think people would remember not to do that.)

The idea of balancing the bike when stationary is not new, and it has already been done simpler than your idea. I'm surprised you haven't seen other people using it when out riding... I forget the name... someone else might remember; they're pretty common around here.

To each their own. Would I use it? Not really, I also just put my foot down. Do I find it creative? Yes, and it seems to work well for him. So I say good job pedalstandman, and I hope you continue to do unique and interesting things to your bikes and show them off.
