The one with the three Oast houses visible in the distance (white cone shaped towers, once used for drying the local Goldings hops), and the one with the poppies are on a route I only take once or twice a fortnight, the others are from my regular routes (almost daily).

Wow, Richard D, you have a lovely ride through the English countryside. It looks like you commute through a park!

What do you do for a living? Milk cows?

You are a lucky fellow.

Richard, you are very lucky. All I get to see is trash and buildings.

I envy you!

Richard, love the pics. Couldn't work out what the blue bit up at the top was then realised it was sky!!(Been kinda grey up here)

I was going to take photo's of my commute this week but it was p*ssing down this morning and so, although I rode in, didn't take the camera in case it got soaked.

Got a puncture this a.m too!

It's very much an edited route - Faversham's traffic isn't too bad, but Canterbury gets pretty busy, whilst it's largely a rural commmute I get a few urban miles in each way. For some reason the photos were also only taken on uphill sections - I'll have to do the route in reverse to get photos of the fast fun bits.

No cows, though the students are sometimes considered wildlife ;)

The photos were from the week before last. In some ways i was glad not to be commuting last week, I needed lights and several towels just to cycle into town.

I'll look forward to seeing photos of Edinburgh, my image of it largely comes from Ian Rankin's books . . .

Sorry about the puncture, something I've yet to have (touch wood), but I will be replacing the rear tyre tonight after my glass riding.

Man, that's not commuting... that's going to heaven every day!

I won't post any pictures of my route, because you see it every day on the news. Usually with a reporter in the foreground, lots of cops milling around behind, and "crime scene" tape all over the place.

Well, that's not fair. There's a cemetery, too.

Now that is just beautiful!

That little dirt track in one of the photos--is that what you ride on? Do you get to do part of your commute off-road? :)

Sadly the track is strictly footpath (over here off road paths are pretty much divided into two sorts footpaths - pedestrian access only, and bridleways - pedestrians, horses and cycles (there are a few other types such as 'green lanes' but these two form most of the non-road rights of way).

I do have three routes that are partly off-road, two which partly utilize Sustrans bike paths (Sustrans are a national charity who develop routes for walkers and cyclists) but the main off-road route is a few miles through a woodland bridleway and permissive track that cuts through local wildlife reserves - pictures next time it's reasonably dry and I remember my camera. I've not been able to work out a totally off-road route yet, and in any case as it's at least an hours ride each way by road, it probably wouldn't be feasible.

naisme. the picture of the falls is quite good. I hope it's a night scene, because that's the way it looks. On your commute, do you always carry all that gear?

Richard, Tis a fine and lovely set of pictures ye be sharing with the rest of the poor envious buggers who fight the good fight against motorists and congested roads.

Thanks to both you fellows for sharing.

The shot of the falls is at night. I usually do the other half of my commute at night, and am able to catch the scenes.

I was limited by what I could post here. I forgot that I had to produce smaller size pics for the commute pictures. I think I have some with trash and potholes, even trains too.

As for carring gear. I had to do some carrying for that day. I didn't have a picture of the commuter so I shot it loaded. Usually I try and make do with the trunk. Often I carry books and extra clothing in one pannier. I enjoy carrying the digital camera on the bars. It's handy all the time.

Cool pix, Iowa.

Man, I'm moving. I'll snap some shots of my commute hopefully soon, but shots of broken glass and rude garbage truck drivers won't compare to yours, or to the pix of earlier postings.

I love using my new camera, and I love cycling, but....

It sucks to stop riding to take a picture. I turned a 50 minute commute to 90 minutes.

The last few commutes have been straight down the less picturesque A2, but I'll show you the other routes if you promise not to let on if I walk any of the hills ;)
