yo clevo friends....

saw a flyer yesterday at century that said registration was $15? what's the deal? free booze at the blind pig afterward for racers? friend tells me last night that the money is going to "some charity," who knows. i'm not going to be there due to prior commitments, but i want to start telling other people about it. cleveland races used to be amazing, hopefully they might come back up to snuff.

anything else you know about it either PM or post freely, i'm going to post on the myfriendcleveland board to give other folks the nod, once i get some more info of course.

sorry i'm going to miss it.

phoenix

The date is set for Saturday Feb 3rd.
The Phoenix Alleycat (aka "Numbers") is laid out. Sneak preview... 10 stops.

This will NOT be like a Tempe "scramble"... much more akin to a full alleycat race. Do not expect to push less than 10 miles. Manifests will be handed out 8:30 (one half hour prior) to race start to allow for route planning. This event will be held upon an even playing field. Being an ASU student, a resident of Phoenix, or never having even been to Phoenix, etc, etc, etc.... doesn't ****ing matter.

Le Mans style start at 9:00 PM at Encanto Park (15'th Ave and Encanto, just north of McDowell).

Prizes will go to first thru third.

Chris and I are devising an Alleycat for Feb. 10th (Saturday).
Feb. 9th TSI will have Airport Factory and Barnacles

Barnacles will bring Gainesville riders....

The way it will work is the stops will be prelisted and you can choose your own path, but there is an order to the checkpoints.

The stops go as:

Chris' House (springfield)
8 Ball (talleyrand)
5 Points Light (riverside)
Memorial Park (riverside)
Best Choice Store (riverside)
Myrtle Tunnel (downtown)
FCCJ Bridges (riverside)
Courthouse Eternal Flame (downtown)
Alltel Eternal Flame (downtown)
Burrito Gallery (downtown)

Yet another February 10th alleycat, this time in the middle of nowhere, OH. There isn't a flier yet as my art person has been pretty swamped, but I figure I can still get the word out even if it is a little more boring in text.

Oxford, OH's first alleycat!
Campus Crusade for Cross
February 10th
Registration @ 2 pm, Race @ 3 pm
Meets at the Pulley Tower (corner of US-27 and US-73)
$5/$4 with a canned good

We're an hour from Cincinnati and Dayton and two hours from Columbus and Indianapolis. Any midwestern folk should come out for this collegiate affair. There will be modest prizes and mucho libations at my apartment afterwards.

itsacosbysweater (at) gmail (dot) com for more information or to let me know you're coming out.

Already posted as separate thread, but here it is again:

http://www.durhambikecoop.org/images/COS2flyer.jpg

SATURDAY, APRIL 21
City of Suspects II

$5 race / $5 show, show free w/race entry.
All proceeds to the Durham Bike Co-op (www.durhambikecoop.org)

1:00 p.m. - Registration outside the Suntrust Building
(tallest building), downtown Durham.

9:00 p.m. - Show at Bull City HQ (723 N Mangum St) w/
Gun Metal Black, Idea of Beauty, The Lineage.

So here's the deal: instead of an all-out race this one's gonna be a sort of deranged omnium:
Test your prowess, be prepared for the absurd. All events weighted evenly; to the victors, the glory ...

The Events:

-Tractor Pull: A drag race. Two easychairs on wheels, with someone sitting in each. Tow yours across the finish line as fast as you can. Format: Time trial.

-Crooked Crank Racing: Two laps around a track, 2-4 riders per heat. Only your cranks are at a 90 degree angle instead of the usual 180. Format: Time trial; single elimination semi-final and final for top four times.

-Bike Polo: Street (axles of evil etc.) rules. Three people per team, teams chosen randomly. Format: single elimination tourney.

-Hill Sprints: Ride to the top of a parking garage as fast as you can. Do something devious of our choosing. Ride back down again. Format: Time trial.

-Huffy Toss: Some spin hammer-throw style. Some underhand it. Whatever: just toss that thing as far as you can. Format: distance, not decapitating your friends.

-Tube Change: Change out an innertube: quickly and without blowing it out. Format: Time trial.

-Footdown: Tiebreaker as needed. Ride around in a circle w/your opponent(s) and try to push them off their bike. Dabbing (putting a foot down) or riding out of the circle eliminates you.

*Track events: So that all can compete, track stands, backwards circles, and skids will not scored for the omnium. However, time and interest permitting, these events will be held between bands during the show.
