It seems like most people have a bike that is'n tmuch older than a year or two on here. Just wanted to see how common older bikes were. My bike is a 2004. It's pretty new.

Ask me again in 10 years, and I'll still be on this beast. As long as the frame is still good, I will ride it. It's a 2004 Trek.

My current bike is a 1999 model. Previously my bike was from 1990. My old bike was still going strong when I gave it away to my brother (stupid move). I should have kept it. I really miss it.

My bike is a new '05. I got it a week or so ago. I had a FS bike a couple of years back, it was a hodge podge of components from '96 - '98. I sold it because I was moving and could take it with me, I also wanted to go to a hardtail because I do more street and light trail riding overall.

My bike's mainly 2005. The only things that aren't are the shifters and levers (soon to be replaced) and the fork (2002 I believe).

I can't believe the majority of bikes here are '05s. I'm a 2001, with '02 wheels, '03 front derailleur and shifters, '00 or '04 cranks. The only '05 thing on there is Avid cables..

I had a '99 until about 2 months ago. It just started to fall apart to a point where it would cost more to fix it than the bike itself was worth, so I decided that it was a good excuse to upgrade :)

Main bike - '03 Specialized Enduro SX
Hardtail - '02 Iron Horse Sinister
Single Speed - No Name frame
Sitting around - '01 Intense Uzzi SL that needs to be sent back for warranty replacement (No money)
Also sitting around - '03 K2 Brass Monkey that I'm building up for my GF's 12 y.o. son.
Road bike - '02 LeMond Zurich
Cyclocross Bike - '04 Bianchi Axis
Sitting around - old Cilo road frame to be a ss or fixed gear.
Sitting around - Old Schwinn Tandemn waiting for restoration.

Son's bikes (he's 5):
'03 Specialized hotrock w/16" wheels (his first bike)
'01 GT Mini - Still kinda big for him
'04 Redline Mini - Just got it for him, this one fits and is brand new old stock.
'05 Specialized hotrock w/20" wheels and 6 spd. Just bought this one too, for hitting the trails.

Don't make me list my girlfriend's kids bikes too, or my buddy's bikes that they keep in my garage. At last count I had close to 20 bikes in my garage.

I've had mine for a while - It is a 1985 Specialized Rockhopper. All orginal equipment 'cept the tires, pads, some spokes, cranks, and saddle)

- now I run it on 1.5 slicks & with a Brooks saddle.

I remember that the first year I had it (85-86) that I broke off 2 cranks - nasty / scary - Nothing like going for a standup start in Downtown traffic and the crank sheers off! - Not once, but twice

- but they were both were replaced for free. It was one of the first mass produced Mtn. Bikes - back then it looked so strange - now it still looks strange compared to all the new Mtn. Bikes. - But now it is retro - Suntour fricton shifting and all!

I've got 2-a HT and a FS. The HT's a '95 and the FS is a '98-pretty much down to just the frames and suspensions, tho. Had to upgrade/replace a lot of parts over the years....

'98 Trek 7000 with LX and XT components, Avid V-brakes, Icon crank, went through four sets of tires, four saddles replacements, and an extra pair of rims by Velocity. Still going strong and the paint is still intact.

My main bikes are in my sig. I've also got a 1995 or so Rockhopper rigid(great bike), a Mongoose from the pre-WalMart days, and several boxes of random parts. I love both the main bikes, and am constantly surprised by how well the Schwinn works. As for the Fisher-pure love, and I plan to ride it until it dies. Of course, with an aluminum frame, that may be sooner than I'd like.

Current bike is a '93 Nishiki Cascade. Back then front suspension was new and rear suspension just a far off dream. The bike has good components, mostly Shimano XT, but it is time to get something modern for these old bones.

1990 Ritchey P-series prototype.
P stands for pUNk! No jokes about it being a J-series.
I've a 140 mm dropout spacing and a 122.5 axle length.

It's following what I expected to see, except I figured 2005 wouldn't be quite so high since the year's not over yet. The curve I found interesting was the poll on frame size. Very neat bell curve.

I'm currently on an '02, but I'm planning on buying a new ride this summer and using my hardtail for commuting. Both the purchase and the commute are highly contingent upon me finding a job after graduation, however.

Main mtb: 2002 Trek Fuel 100 with 04 fork, 05 front wheel and front brake, 01 bar, 00 rear rim, 98 cranks, shifters and rear brake and 95 rear hub (she's a real mut, but she sure takes me for a nice ride).

Single speed townie: 98 Litespeed obed with 05 rigid fork, 98 brakes, and 95 wheels.

93? Mongoose Team SX carbon frame. Was my single speed until I got the Litespeed welded. Now it's waiting for me to start making enough $ so I can turn it into a sweet, superlight hard tail.

i have this tought.... if the bike fits you.. and the frame is still strong you dont have any reason to change your bike... you can only buy new components... except when youre looking for a ligher frame.... i dont see the point in changing bike every year... it might be that i dont have the money to do so.... gary fisher made of cro-mo.... mid 90īs and still running for my kind of riding

Sometimes you change riding styles and what you have is no longer adequate for what you want to do.

Or sometimes, you find a deal you can't pass up.

Or sometimes, you do some work for a friend and he gives you some extra parts he has. Then you compare it with the spare parts you have and realize, "I only need a new frame and I can put together another bike!".

Or sometimes, you get a bigger tax return than you were expecting and you walk into the shop and you see....

I have a TREK 850....not sure what year but I think I bought it new in 1997. I love it although I seldome ride it except on a trainer in the basement. It still has goose excretment on the tires from the ride down on the riverbanks in November.

Bought my Rocky Mountain on ebay and the seller said the bike was a 2000, but now I'm, thinking it is 96 or older! (More research is in order.)

My GT Saddleback is my first and only mountain bike! I'm pretty sure its a 96' or 97'. Overall I have been very happy with it, but in the last year or so I have become more serious about riding and intend to compete in some races. I definitely need something with better shifting capabilities, and I could use some more gears ..... once I get a new one, i'll clean the GT up for my kids or a good back-up.

That's exactly how the addiction starts.

Yeah, yeah, I'll use it as a back up bike.

Oh wait, it would make a killer single speed set-up. I'll just buy a new fork for it and it'll be perfect.

Oh look, that road bike is on sale. I think I need to start road riding to build my endurance....yeah yeah!!!

Ooooooh, a cyclocross bike, I NEED one of those! Just think of the places I could go with that bike....yeah!

Uh oh, that HID lighting system is neat. Just think of how I could extend my riding time with a lighting system.......

You hit that on the head! Last year started my addiction. Picked up my first real road bike last winter (Specialized Roubaix), and of course now I need a higher quality MX bike to go with it ..... after all i'm taking riding much more serious these days .......? A friend and myself did talk about trying out cyclocross once or twice ....... single speed, huh ... that might be interesting .................

So true. So sad....

I'm itching for a SS, but I think I need to build myself up first...but I still want one! Damn. (I guess that is what the track is for!)

My main bike is an 05 Specialized SXT. My other bike (which I actually ride more) is an 04 Enduro frame which was a warranty replacement, along with a mix of parts dating back to 96 or so.

My last new mountain bike was purchased in 97. I don't envision needing anything else for a long time now.

Nice thing about a single speed is you usually can get one for cheap. I got my Mongoose as a single speed for $100. It had real crappy wheels and brakes but I had a better pair of old wheels and a spare set of xtr v-brakes just collecting dust in my garage. And so it goes.
