I am new to roadcycling and I am going to enter my first race in may. Anyways, the bike I purchased came with tubular tires on campy omega rims and I was wondering if there were any tricks to glueing tubular tires back on the rim cleanly and easily? I tried searching but didn't find anything helpfull. Thanks a lot. :)

use the tape.
It's great no mess, no drying time.
tires on, air and out the door.
I think I made the same response yesterday. sorry.

where's the fun in that???
Tape is fine, but Everyone should glue and
then ride at least one pair of Sewups.
Where's the tradition? Where's the
homage to the history? Where's the
Goo Gone?

I'd been glueing for longer than I care to admit.
Ah yes, tradition.
Shall I respond by way of snail mail too?

Don't know much about tape, but how do you remove it when you need to put on another tire? I use Fastack, at least for training, cause it cleans up well with laquer thinner. I think mastic cleans up pretty well with lighter fluid and can be used with carbon wheels. I'll find out soon as my first set of carbon wheels will be in shortly.
Best thing to do is prestrech tubulars by putting them onto unused rims for storage.
They'll be much easier to put on later. Yeah, and there is something to be said about tradition.

Having used glue for many many years, I cleaned all of it off the rims (good way to kill 4 hours....) and used the Tufo glue tape. I think that it took me about as much time to put the tape on, wet the cloth backing on the tire with water, pull the backing off the tape and stick the tire on, pump it up to 15 psi, center it, and then pump it up to 110 as it would have taken me to install a clincher tire. And, I didn't have to wait for 24 hours for the glue to fully set up. Put it on, go ride it right away.
I would advocate this stuff over the tube glue. There is a quick time movie at the Tufo site that shows how to install tires with their tape. They do advocate using their tires with their tape.

To ed073. Thanks for the link. LBS says lighter fluid is ok on carbon rims. Article says to use glue to soften up the old glue. Now what?

That article is the best I've ever read. I've been gluing tires for 15 years and I learned a thing or three.

I have two problems with the tape. On aluminum rims, I've had it slip in the rain. The tire rotates around a quarter inch, and then the valve stem gets off center, and makes the tire hop. I assume it could also cause the tire to roll. That is enough for me not to use it anymore.
And if you remove the tire, sometimes it is a real pain to get the tape off of the tire. Right now I have three or four good tires that I'm not using for that very reason. I've got a hair dryer, would that make it easier to get the tape off?

Me too.
