Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Fixed Centurion Done

Here is the fixed early-mid-80s Centurion Le Mans. All is stock except the new Surly/Mavic rear wheel with a 14 cog and clipless pedals. Of course I cleaned and polished the rest of the bike.

Took it out for a 12mi ride yesterday to run some errands and have fun. I think I over did the skidding (too much fun) and my legs are a bit tight in new places.

I very much want to keep the rest as stock as possible, including the paint. Any suggestion on a hand rest for the right hand? The base part of the remaining brake lever has an open end that looks bad. Are there generic rubber covers that can fit over?

edit..nm. my connection was slow..I now see the pic. Nice build.

One thing I've done was to pop rivet the unused brake lever into open position. If you use a few washers (appripriately sized) between the lever and the housing it ends up being really strong. I liked the simetrical look and the fact that I could drill out the rivets and have it working again in a snap.
you could also try wripping it up with black cloth bar tape.

I like that not only did you fix the bike, but you also relaid the block wall in the background. Nice touch.

I think I may put the old lever back in for looks, good idea. I could even run a cable to my leg or something with one of those electric BBQ gas starters, apply shock the leg for braking, all hand controlled.

Yeah, I completely re-built my house in the process of fixing the bike... actually one side was shady in the morning, the other shady in the afternoon.

That was my original plan, but I've grown to prefer keeping the bike as close to stock as possible, yeah that could change again next week. If I do go for bullhorns, I will buy new ones or chop a different set of old bars. These stock ones are 38cm wide which is a bit tight for me so I'd rather have 42 anyway.
