I am putting together a cheap commuter fixie and am looking for some cheap ($20 + or -) but decent tires for it. I'm in Brooklyn where potholes, glass, etc. abound. Does anyone have any advice?

I am considering the following two:

Vredestein Volante SE (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=121&subcategory=1085&brand=&sku=11667&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=)

or

Vittoria Action Pro Team HSD (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=121&subcategory=1085&brand=&sku=10253&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=)

Does anyone know anything about either of these or have any recommendations for something in this price range? I had a friend who had a ***** of a time getting his Vittoria tires on his rims.

I've used this for a couple of years in a 27", nice tire. Not in Bklyn, mind you, but...

and only 3 bucks more than the nashbar tires. they are 28's which might help smooth the potholes a bit.

just picked up a set and they are pretty nice! only surprise being they are grey.

I use the nashbar prima 2 plus tires, as I think they are called. They run about $10 and are Kevlar belted. They aren't as flat proof as I would like them to be, but to their defense I think I was running them underinflated for a while. The rear has held up to at least a thousand miles (some skids and skips) and still has lots of life left.

panaracer pasela tour guard.
I have ridden these tires for years and never got a flat. sell for 15 to 20 bucks.
They run small, 25 looks like a 23 and the 28 looks like a 25.
