I got these components on my 1986 Schwinn Traveler mixed in with Suntour/Dia Compe stuff. I was wondering if I could find the model number on the "light action" derailer and shifters and stuff. Was this on the high end side, or the low end side? Thanks.
Light action was entry level. The model number for the rear derailleur will be on the back/inside arm of the parallelogram. Format should be RD-Lxxx, where RD=rear derailleur, L = light action, xxx = model number. I believe there there different models; 523, 525, 532. Failure of the parallelogram's rear arm is not uncommon on these derailleurs, due to the pivot point for the spring anchor lever.

Yup, I have an old Raleigh mountain bike that came with light action and that's exactly what happened.

Thanks for the info...
Great...problems with the derailleur snapping in half. Just what I need when I'm 100 miles out in the middle of nowhere. :)
