I am thinking of buying this bike but the fork is too short.
Can I have an extension made for the fork? Would this be suicide?
I would probably set it up threadless.

I did it. the extension is a piece of 1" x .058" 4130 tubing, with a sleeve inside that covers 1" of the original steerer and 1" of the new steerer. it's one of those things, I know it's safe, I don't worry about it, but when it comes down to it, I wouldn't do it for someone else. the liability just isn't worth the twenty bucks I'd earn. get the tubing, cut it to length, fit it together, and take it to a TIG shop. it's about 10 minutes of welding. that includes 5 minutes waiting for the fork to cool down before you pick it up.

how would that help if the steerer doesn't come out the top of the headtube?

it wont...
i figured that the tube was cut too low for his likes and he wanted to run it higher.

good luck with that, 16x54
