Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Can't post to for sale - have I been banned?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey everyone - I've noticed some changes with the for sale portion of Bike Forums - it looks like the Hot Deals and the offsite for sale areas are gone. This is puzzling because I personally haven't seen any over the top abuses of those forums.

A few times I posted links to a few eBay auctions - but always in the "off site" forum and I always tried to maintain the thread with q&a and other discussion including pics of what I was selling (mainly fixed gear bikes) so tonight I was trying to post to the for sale forum and got the message that I didn't have permission. What gives? Have people who were posting their eBay auction been banned?

Or, do I now need to go a head and fork over the cash to become a full Bike Forums member?

I apologize if I've missed some big announcement - I haven't had time recently to read up on the changes here at Bike Forums. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

You missed the announcement.

The reason why you didn't see any over the top abuses is because we act so fast you blink and it's gone. We get A LOT of spam coming through. Some of them are malicious viruses, and others are just crazy websites, and some is just spam. We delete it all as fast as it gets up there. But sometimes, there are problems. Until we can figure out how to prevent this from happening (or at least happen less often), we had to take off the Hot Deals stuff.

Joe really wanted to give the members who upgraded extra stuff, so the For Sale was changed to reflect that.

Check the News and Announcements forum for further details, or check the first thread in the For Sale forum that Joe created to explain the guidelines.

Sorry for your inconvenience. Damn spammers!

We'll figure something out. Hang in there.
