Okay, back to the overdose thread. I wonder how many of you take vitamin or mineral supplements, both or none?

Another thing, do you all thing that these supplements are important at all and at which age are they most advised to be taken?

Which brand of vitamin or mineral supplements do you all buy?

I, age 15, does take my vitamins and minerals supplements. Then, I take another calcium tablet enriched with vitamin D.

Yes, I take a daily multi-vitamin that I buy from GNC called Solotron. For awhile, I had them on hand, but would only take them when it was convenient and I remembered. Now, I take one daily with lunch because I discovered that I feel more energetic when I do.

When I'm around people who have or are getting a cold or something, I increase my vitamin C intake temporarily with a daily chewable 'C' tablet. Maybe it's mental. All I know is that it works for me. The last cold that I had (a rare thing for me anymore) lasted less than a week and symptoms were not horribly uncomfortable.

I don't know if there's a particular age where vitamins become more beneficial. I'm 32.

What about taking Centrum multi vitamin? Anyone use it? I was thinking of taking it along my tour for a good multi vitamin. Usually I am not too good at taking them tho.

My boyfriend, a cyclist and runner, swears by Centrum. He's been taking it for years along with Tums as a calcium supplement (with food of course). I don't know how Centrum stacks up against some of the other multi-vitamins out there though. It seems like every brand has its own combination of ingredients and amounts of each. I wish I knew more about the subject.

A basic, garden variety multivitamin. Even if I pee it all out, it's just to ensure I have a fairly consistent level of vitamins in my diet.

A lot fresh fruit and veggies every day keeps me alive and kicking, and off course a nice Belgian beer at the time

I take GNC Mega Men pills. Not for riding, just for general health. Talk to your doctor. I guarantee he'll tell you a multi-vitamin is a good idea, now matter how good your diet is.

Okay back last year I decided that maybe I should take multi-vitamins, but without fail after about thirty minutes I throw up after taking one.

For some reason my body just couldn't take it, has anybody else had a reaction similar to this ?

I like to know, maybe it was just the make of tablets, by the way they were Multi-Vitamins + Iron.

Hmmmm....I've never heard of that before. Strange. The only reaction I get is that bright yellow pee. :p

Did you take it with food? It's recommended to take a multivitamin with a meal because it helps the vitamins to absorb easier. I used to take multi-vitamins without food (before I learned the right way) and boy, they leave a nasty aftertaste in your mouth. I can imagine a taste like that might make some people throw up.

I used to take them on their own, maybe I'll give them another go but take them at mealtimes.

Thanks.

I think it was only at that point when you would unluckily throw up. Why don't you try it again, I think you would not throw up again. If you still do, why don't you change to another brand of multivitamins, perhaps same ingredients that made it into the tablet form made you puke.

Also, you can try taking it with a variety of drinks to see if your body can take it or try dissolving it into some beverage.

If none of the above works, you probably have a allergic reaction to synthetic vitamins. I also puke whenever I try to take Brands Chicken Essence, I don't try it any longer.

Every morning w/ breakfast. . .

1000mg B-12

200mg Vit E

500mg Vit C

180mg Allegra (for my hay fever allergies)

Haven't had a cold in over a year. I clearly feel better after hard rides when I'm on this regimen. I recover faster and have more energy.
