[Starting over here since I got no response in Road Cycling]

Anyone participating in any events for Bike Summer 2005? It's in Los Angeles this year and it seems to be an annual event that moves from city to city. There are some cool rides on the event calendar, like the LA to San Diego ride, along with some cool mechanic workshops. I've never seen or done any Bike Summers before, but I think it's cool:

Chicago, Vancouver BC, Portland OR, NYC, Seattle, now LA. Plan an event, get it on the calendar, make it happen!

I'll be going to several events with the GF, schedule permitting. I'm trying to see if I can figure out cheap train rides up to LA, instead of driving up there all the time from OC.

Chicago has good celebrations leading up to and including bike to work day. Then they continue it through with bike to work for the summer season. I bet with gas prices, there will be a pretty large head count under the Picasso for bike to work day!

Yeah, it's the first time I've heard of it, but at least it's in my backyard. LA really isn't a bike-friendly city. East of Sepulveda, the bikelanes seem to dissappear, unless you're lucky to be in parts of Pasadena. But also, they gotta do something about the potholes from all the flooding and rains this year.

Sounds good, Hawk. I think OC oughtta have some events. I'd go down to check them out if they had any. Any excuse to ride, man (my knee permitting).
