The Kona Jump Farm will also be introduced this summer as the world's first lift-accessed dirt jump facility, providing the necessary skills practice area to progress throughout the park. A mid-mountain conveyor belt-style lift will transport bikers effortlessly up to the top of the Kona Jump Farm providing more time and energy to practice up to 50 hits designed by dirt-master John Cowan, one of the best dirt jumpers in the world.
Something I just noticed.
This was a big demand as a-line (the primary jump trail) was a little big for a lot of beginners. This is gonna be a killer year...

is it going to be packed? Do the trails get bogged down with riders or is it just too huge?

some trails varry. A-line and probably freight train are usually packed on weekends. But I don't ride those trails during remotely busy times. It isn't bad, but I don't ride Friday. Sat or sunday. If you plan a trip, plan to ride the mountain mid week.

I bet you are just chomping at the bit to get out there. It sounds like a great place.

yeah I could use a couple of days of lift assisted. Much easier to work on bike handling fundementals when you can get 15 runs a day in haha
How much is a seasons pass for bike/lift?
Do you know why stratton mountain in VT (intrawest) hasn't followed suit with the mountain biking park/trail system.

For whistler it is 325$ cdn. you make your money back if you go up 10 times. Sounds steep but for the amount of terrain offered and the speed of the lifts well worth it.
The only thing I can think of is whistler is just starting to really explode. The market wasn't there until 2 years ago for multiple dh parks of this nature. I know they are 'spreading' to blue mountain for a small market test. If it continues to succeed it may move south, but really with the supified legal system in place in the US of A I don't know if intraware would want to take a chance on such a risky market. The states is having resorts close its doors, not new ones opening.
Its so awful how people can be so greedy. People just dont want to take responsibility for their own stupid actions. Its sad.

You just don't conceptualize how tall the mountain is. You will be able to snowboard to fitz lift and then bike down. :)

Bit(hen, all he was talking about were bowls that were pretty much right at the top, he said the Alpine forcast was going to be well above zero this week so I would imagine the snow will go quick.

Mountain bike park doesn't go up very far. There is still 1000ft on top to work with.
Blackcomb will be open all summer too. But yeah right now it is WARM!!!...I love it

So this mountain is just freakin huge? I wouldn't know, I have no concept of a mountain, I live in semi-flat Texas. My real question is, you take the lift up but how long is the ride back down? I would hate having to stand around in line to take the lift back up.

If you aren't racing full speed (record is 4 minutes on a jumping trails)...10 to 15 minutes from mid point depending on the trail. 30 minutes from the top. This is full on dh, not bits and pieces. Lets put it like this, in florida the highest peak is 500 ft (if I remember right)...whistler mountain has 2200vert ft. 500vert ft are my xc race trails.
Hard to explain if you have never really dhilled. 15minutes doesn't sound like much but it woudl hurt most people. To start most fit peole can't last 5 to 7 runs (hands and legs give out)
I would hate having to stand around in line to take the lift back up.
Trust me, the 5 to 10 minute wait is NOTHING for thejoy of coming back down :)...imagine your favorite technical trail you like to play on but is tough, and being able to ride it 20 times in one day. Imagine how much you would HAVE to improve.
With lift, a FAST run lasts 30minutes total. For in shape dhillers they can pull off 20 runs a day...my best is 15 and my hands were falling off and I was passing out from pain and anaerobic exhaustion.

Guadalupe peak doesnt look that tall either because the highway that drives past it is already at least half the elevation up. It would look a lot taller if you were looking at it from sea level.
