Classic & Vintage - I found a Saint Tropez 440

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Can anyone tell me alittle about it? I heard of the name before but I cant find any info on it from google or ebay.
The whole bike was covered in electric tape for some reason(stolen?) but it also had alot of weeds wrapped around the spokes and stuff. Im thinking of coverting it to a SS or fixed so I can sell it or keep it for myself if its good enough. Anyways after an hour of removing all components and tape heres the result so far.
Thanks

Are you going to clean it in the washing machine? ;)

Saint Tropez was a lower end French bike boom model. Not sure of much else, not a lot of info aside from a brief mention on Sheldon Brown's french page. I've passed on the couple I've found, but it would probably make a decent enough beater bike.
I have specs for an early 1980s, model 440. Very much an entry level model, with hi-tensile steel frame and lots of steel parts, resulting in a 32LB claimed weight. Original retail was $175 US. At this time, the bikes were made in Taiwan and therefore probably have English threading.
Thanks guys. well the bike is looking good so far. everything but the crank is stripped. i was belt sanding the bike today but the sand paper ripped so i had to stop but its was pretty easy getting the big parts of the paint off that way, now i gotta scrub the lugz and tiny parts.
I found one of those last year... also with weeds in the spokes. I left it where it was, mainly because it was aout a 58 cm.
