I want to have an XTR hub laced up to a Mavic 521. I want a good hand builder, as I hate having to have rims retrued.

I don't know about the Bay Area, but there is a pro mechanic turned wheel builder that does a fantastic job.(So I've heard!) His name is Steve Graventies (SP?) I think he's got a website or shop called GravyWheels. Check him out. It may cost a bit more, but if you're looking for a top notch job, he's your man!

The BEST wheel builder in the US is Marcel Calborn. In his younger days he was a pro in Europe, after he retired, he went to work for many years at Colnago building frames, building bicycles, and building wheels! he is the ONLY person I have seen that can true even the latest technology wheels (in machinist terms) dead-nuts straight. He does every type of wheel you might need. He is at 949-643-1620 or 949-643-1621. He has an email address but is currently having computer problems. marcel@celoeuropa.com - give him a call, you won't go wrong!
