What's a good rule of thumb for cassette life? I've got a problem with the chain skipping on one cog only when I climb (derailler is in good adjustment). I can't see anything indicating it's got worn or bad teeth, but it has about 4500 miles on it. I'm about to hit the LBS, but was hoping I could get some feedback before I head out.

Is the chain worn? People get that many miles out of a chain and go thru several chains before the cassette is trash. Many don't. YMMV

I have about 6,000 miles on my cassette, and about 2,000 on my most recent chain. So far so good....
