My rear brake has a dry, scratchy, scraping sound to it. I checked the pads and there does not appear to be any grit or gravel caught in them, plus they have only 300 miles. I also cleaned off the contact point all the way around the rim, both sides, but no change. I have bontrager race lite rims and ultegra brake pads. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I've heard good things about Ultegra pads . . . like . . . you're not *stuck* with them.
First, search the forum for "brake squeal." Same basic deal. You'll want to clean the rims' braking surfaces (isopropyl alcohol works) and the brake pads (sandpaper or a flat file).
If that doesn't work, replace 'em. Kool-stops rule the free world. Cheap enough. Great bang for the buck.

Yeah, if they arn't down to the metal or anything, and you can't find any reason for the noise, replace them.
