I want to touch up various frame scratches but can't find the matching color off the shelf at either the auto parts store or model shop stocking Testors enamels. The bike manufacturer / importer (Nishiki) is not around any more to help. Some custom body paint shops will blend the right shade, a kind of metallic bronze, but only in quantities far larger than I need or could ever use. Any good suggestions or links would be appreciated.

I don't even try. Touch it up with clear. If your touch up paint doesn't match exactly it'll draw your eye to the repair much more readily than a scratch does.

Best color selection is the nail polish counter at WaltMart. Only place I could find my custom sunburst orange.

borrow or buy a color chart - match the color then see if the local hardware store can supply a free sample in that color. You may be able to get a small jar/pot from them. You'll still need to check that the color matches once dry though.

It scares me, but I found a precise match to the hot metallic blue of a Douglas Fusion at the nail polish counter. The polish seems to stand up ok.
