I am probably the only one that didn't know Ken Kifer had a fall this March that fractured a hip. I feel a real debt to him because his site was very helpful to me when I was just starting. He has posted a very honest article about his fall and recovery to date on his site.

Don't feel bad, Jean. I just learned about it last week. Wondered why he hadn't updated his site in a while. Turns out he was busy with other things, like relearning how to walk.
I like his attitude. [Heavy paraphrasing] The results have been rather drastic, but it really is "just" a broken leg.

My hat's off to Ken Kifer for providing all of us with such an intelligent and informative website.
I am sorry to hear of his accident and wish him a speedy recovery (as pain-free as possible.)
Ken's recovery is faster than average for this type of injury, as was mine from my clavicle facture. His observations about bicycle, tyre, and road/pothole/gutter geometry are interesting.
