So im converting a old steel frame to fix and i need a new wheelset. im thinking of getting this since its so cheap: http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=131&subcategory=1197&brand=&sku=11252&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=

can i just put a fix cog in and it'll work? or do i need like a whole new hub or something.

btw any tips on straightening a crank thats alittle wobbly?

thanks

you could use it IF your bike has 135mm rear spacing, and you don't have any qualms with the "suicide wheel/bumbike" way of life.

if you're buying a new wheel for the purpose of a fixed gear, get one with a track hub.

irocycle.com and harriscyclery.com are good places to look.

It has a cassette hub. You would need an adapter like the Surly Fixxer ($75).

No you cannot just put a cog on that rear wheel and ride fixed.
You can however put a cog and spacers on it and ride SS.
Read Sheldon Brown's site about fixed gear for further enlightenment.
