I am considering buying the 2002 Cannondale R700, which has an integrated headset. I have read a few posts here indicating that if the headset cracks the frame is shot. As I am new to road bikes, I have a few questions:

A) Is that the case, or is the frame salvagable?

B) Is there documented issues with this type of headset? Cannondale in particular.

C) Is this something to worry about or not?

Nothing to worry about. The cannondale (at least the ones I've seen) use Campy Record headsets. You can still replace integrated headsets- they come out.
People can say whatever but it's nothing to worry about.
