Lost my 12 year old Siberian Husky. Lymphatic cancer. Couldn't watch him suffer any more. Didn't have a mean bone in his body.

Gods Garden. A canine collection of poems

God looked around his garden
and found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth
and saw your precious face

He put his arms around you
and lifted you to rest
Gods Garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best

He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew you'd never ever
Get well on earth again

So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered "peace be thine"
Then He took you up to Heaven
With hands so gentle and kind

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God took you home.

I have a few I'm waiting to meet across
the rainbow bridge.
Lost my Golden this year, she was 12
and well, it was time.

Sorry for your loss,

FOUR-FEET

I have done mostly what most men do,
And pushed it out of my mind;
But I can’t forget, if I wanted to,
Four-Feet trotting behind.

Day after day, the whole day through-
Wherever my road inclined-
Four-Feet said, “I am coming with you !”
And trotted along behind.

Now I must go by some other round,-
Which I shall never find-
Somewhere that does not carry the sound
Of Four-Feet trotting behind.

Oh man...my heart goes out to you. Sorry to hear that you are hurting, but at least you made the call so that he is not. That's got to be really tough.

God needs buddies too I guess. Hang in there.

Sorry for your loss. My kids just lost their beloved pet last night. Marble was the greatest dog a child could want. Gentle and playful. He will be sorely missed.

Thanks everyone. I think I read a question where someone asked a write why dogs didn't live longer. The writers response was "If they have this kind of impact on us for their lifespan, how much more would it be if they lived longer?"" and how could we go on without them?"
I'll post a picture of the guy if I can figure out how to shrink the file size to the 100 kb

Sorry for you loss Klondike. I know how tough it is.

Sharing some of my words.

The Thousand

They’ve gone for now
Yes, gone my friend
They’ve gone to run with the thousand.

You’re tired now
Yes, tired my friend
Stop now and run with the thousand.

They’re waiting now
Yes, waiting my friend
For you to run with the thousand.

It’s your turn now
Yes, your turn my friend
Your turn to run with the thousand.

So long for now
So long my friend
You’ve gone to run with the thousand.

Don’t worry now
Don’t worry my friend
We’ll meet when I run with the thousand.

I have an idea of what you are going through. I lost Auster (the one in my avatar) last September to bloat. I still cry when I think about her. What maes it even worse is that I'm fostering a nice jack russell for rescue, but can't keep him since my work schedule is going to be crazy the next few years.

sorry to hear that Klondike300.

I had a dream last night that my dog from my childhood was still alive and well, she was the best friend.

I posted Four Feet above, and wanted to post more but couldnt.

I had a dog, Zephyr, a cross of lots of kinds, who I hitchhiked around Australia with for about 18 months. She died in 1987. Still cuts me up. Havent had a dog since, until my current girlfriend and I started together 4 years ago. She has a Jack Russell, now 9 years old. Getting to like that dog as well.

I always hurts terribly to lose a pet. I'm so very sorry for you. Words don't always work, but memories help

The first pet that I owned that died, a new Zealand white rabbit, my grandfather helped me to dig a grave, we put him into a box, put flowers on top then covered it with dirt.A couple o days later he took me to a friends plant nursery and told me to pick out a rose bush to plant as a marker. I choose a yellow rose. 50+ years later that rose still blooms. Three successive owners of the house have always remarked how beautiful that rose bush grows and blooms

Plant a tree or something, and you will remember the li'l guy everytime you see it growing

My nephew was heart broken when his new pup died suddenly. And nothing we said could console him, till an old neighbor took his hand and said to him, "he is now playing in Heaven with all the other little pups, and they are having ice cream every day, and swimming anytime they want to, and when you go to heaven he will be sitting at the door waiting for you."Thinking of that fine old lady and her kindness brings tears to my eyes as I write this

it's just a dog

Try telling that to a 10 year old who's had their dog as long as they can remember.

That was unnecessarily, ewitz. Keep it respectful, please.

I know that words can not heal your pain....Sorry for your loss.

This made me take an extra moment and give each of my dogs a good old bear hug...

RIP.

I feel your pain. I lost my 13 year old huskey, back in 2004. she was the best friend a person could ever have! She was with me though thick and thin.

Hold on to the memories you had of him and cherish them for a lifetime.

I feel for you big time. Last week I had to put down my 7 yr old black lab and I was a basket case for 3 days afterwards. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do (as a gulf war vet, that's saying a lot) I have a Doberman as well and he hasn't been the same since.

Hmmm...just a dog.
I know a few human lives I'd trade in a minute to have my dog back.
