I'm a bike commuter but my heart is in touring so I usually hang there.

A couple of months ago I was at Mountain Equipment Coop and bought a couple of Turtle lights. As you can see from the thumbnail they are tiny little LED lights (red and white) you can attach to any bike instantly with an elastic cord.

I have a couple of beaters at subway stations, so leaving any accessory on the bike is begging for theft. I just carry these on my courier bag and hook them up to the bike I'm on.

Does anyone else do this?

I put them on my hubs. It created a great strobe effect for all to see. But the batteries didn't seem to last and the spring/battery-contact lost it's strength and they would loose connection and turn off.

They're pretty bright for the size. Have yet to find a way of mounting the red tail light on my bike so that it actually faces traffic behind me.

Nashbar has em also. My grandson has swiped em to use as "lasers".

They're fine for occasional use, but not for daily use. I had one on my beater bike that I used daily in flashing mode, and the battery wore out in around 2 weeks. Definitely nice and bright for the size, though, and small enough to tuck away for an emergency flat battery "be seen" situation. I can see them being handy for touring, too, due to the size, plus the fact you can use the red one at night to see without losing your night vision.
