ok so heres the verdict...i have a univega ds-900 and my name implies. and i want to upgrade, im stumped however on how to best upgrade my bike. my options are:
1)buy a burly hardtale frame and fork and put the parts from the vega onto that.
2) upgrade fork and rear shock on the vega for the time being and save for a "big-hit" bike
3) buy a full suspention frame such as a kona stinky and go from there...
idk what to do. i just started seriously mountain biking last summer and i do moderate drops (anything from 1-7 feet, maybe more later on) i also do some jumping and alot of trail riding.
waht would be my best bet.

I'd say get a new bike. That one was only about $600 new (if it's the '01). You'll sink at least $400 in the fork & shock, plus still have the 4+ yr. old frame & components. If you've rode any at all, the components on that bike are all but worn-out.

Save for new is my opinion....

well i do have a brand new set of race face evolve dh cranks and evolve fr bottom bracket. which will probaly go on the new bike/frame. oh yeah, and if i got the fork and shock it they would be used so maybe together it would cost at most 150.

Well you mentioned hardtail & F/S in the 1st post, so I don't know if you don't pick one type over the other. Sounds like you might should go with the hardtail, based on you're future riding style. My only hardtail is a '95 model, so I can't really recommend one. Alot of riders on here swear by Specialized, the rest of us just swear....

ive ridden fully almost my entire riding (serious riding) and i wouldnt ever make a ht my only bike. they are fun for urban and commuting, but for anything else, full suspension is my choice.
