Mountain Biking - Cake Question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've been surfing around lately on MTBR and was reading into the Gary Fisher Cake series. I was just wondering if anyone has seen any reviews of them on some sites i could take alook at. I'm wondering what type of an improvement this year's DLX's are over last years. This is just a casual question so any ideas would help. The new Maverick fork and thru-axle on the DLX 1 looks pretty cool as does the full XT spec, and one final question does the 1 DLX have dual controls on it (gasp).
P.S. If anyone mentions that I should be looking into an Enduro or a Five-Spot in this thread I think i may scream!

Next time please try and do a search before asking a broad question, you could probably bring yourself in line with some more direct questions and save both you and the posters some time :D I just searched for CAKE, in the topic, in moutain biking. Simply amazing.

Thanks for the post PWRDbyTRD but I'm inquiring as to this years Cakes (05 or is it like cars so they'd be 06?) rather than last years. They supposedly made some changes (top tube, is chain suck gone? etc) that I'd like to know how they fared with and in general if its an improved bike or still as bad as some say.

'06 shouldn't be out yet...but who knows, I'm not sure have you ridden the bike yet?

Recipe Summary
Difficulty: Medium
Prep Time: 35 minutes
Inactive Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
3 sticks, plus 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups grated carrots
1 cup chopped toasted pecans
Pecan Cream Cheese Icing:
8 ounces cream cheese
1 stick unsalted butter
1 (1-pound) box confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup chopped toasted pecans
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Butter 3 (9-inch) cake pans with 1 tablespoon of the butter and set aside. In a large bowl, cream the butter with an electric mixer. Add the sugar, and beat. In a medium bowl or on a piece of parchment, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt, and mix well.
Add the dry ingredients, alternating with the eggs, beating well after the addition of each. Add the vanilla extract and mix. Add the carrots and beat on medium speed until well incorporated, about 2 minutes. Fold in the nuts. Divide between the 3 cake pans and bake until set and a cake tester inserted into the middle comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let rest in the cake pans for 10 minutes. Invert onto wire racks, remove from the pans, and let cool.
For the Frosting: In a large bowl, cream together the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy. Add the sugar gradually, beating constantly. Add the vanilla and pecans.
When the cake is cool, place 1 cake layer on a cake plate or stand. Spread the top with cream cheese frosting and top with a second and third cake layer, spreading the icing between each layer. Spread the icing around the sides of the cake and let harden slightly before serving. To serve, cut into wedges.

Pie's better than cake! Of course, devil's food is awesome-esp. with chocolate icing...mmm.
Anyhoo, one of the sales guys at the LBS(which sells Fishers) has a Cake(think it's a 2 DLX) that he likes a lot. Of course, he probably got a hell of a discount on it. Not my style, but it sounds like a test ride's in order.

So here I am checking the forums happy to find a bunch of replies to my topic. Yet low and behold they are a bunch of mindless immature comments on how the name of a bike is also a name of a food (well haha  ) and how i should use the search function even though in an earlier post I specifically stated that after using the search function all I came up with was information that was not relevant to my question. Although I would have to extend my thanks to Karldar for winning the "Relevant Response of The Day" award, just try not to mention to him that his was the only entry. I guess this is what happens when u don’t let people instantly recommend a Specialized Enduro or a Turner Five-Spot haha..

Nobody has one here yet. Why don't you get it and tell US what you think.
On the other hand maybe there's a reason we suggest those other bikes...........

The best info out there is probably on the mtbr forums under the trek/Fisher/Klein forum. There should be some guys there with 2005 models.
