Road Cycling - Calling all Canadians (Torontonians especially) ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am looking to get into the sport with a budget of approximately $1000 - 1200 CAD for a bike. I figure at this price point, wanting to do some serious riding, I'm better off looking for something used. Anyone selling or know someone who is? I'm in the Toronto area.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

check out the toronto bicycling network, ppl are always selling on there... they also have great rides, depending on your ability.. you will get to know a lot about the city and burbs.. in the fall they have hiking, skiing in winter and blading groups.. for variety..
some clubs like d'ornellas have days where they teach crit and i believe the owner has a spin gym where you can learn gears.. from a 2 time olympian.. check it out

I have two bookmarks for bikes. One is this forum, and the other is the TBN. I'm in Rochester, NY now, but I'll be moving to Toronto for a few years starting in the fall.
They have a great looking ride called the TNT: Toronto-Niagara-Toronto. Two 100 mile rides, back to back. Mostly along the lesser traveled roads, they say. I can't wait to do it when I finally get to town.
Cheers to Toronto biking!

D'Ornellas (along Lawrence East) is indeed a good place to buy a bike. Unlike most stores where you are just ask to stand over the TT of a bike, these guys have an inseam measurement tool in the store and know more than most on how to right size a bike for you.
