Anybody have any GOOD or BAD experiences with the Mavic CROSSMAX UST wheelset and Michelin COMP S tubeless tires??
I.E. flats, punctures, leaking etc......

I have the Crossmax wheelset and oh my god!! they are awesome. However, I don't have the Michelin tires - can't remember what I have right now. Hmmm. Hutchinsons? Anyway, I ride on very rocky terrain and haven't had any flats. Of course, I've only had one flat tire in my three years of off-road riding, so.... I guess being 120 lbs. helps. Anyway, the wheelset rocks.

Last year I had a pair of mavic crossmax wheels. They were killer sweet. I had hutchinson python tubeless tires with mine, they were extremely fast rolling and produced a softer ride than a regular tire/tube setup. I sold the wheels this year though, because I am going to be getting a new bike that comes with them. I loved them:D

Thanks for the comment's ---- I might have to change the tires, but it sounds like I made the right decision on the Crossmax wheelset.

I have a set of Crossrocs on my NRS2. I've had several Hutchinsons on them and cut every one of them almost immediately. The grip great and handle well, but cut easily. I now have a set of Kenda Kharissma's on. Quite a few miles on them and no problems at all. Check the reviews on MTB review.
The cutting problem with the Hutchinsons is well known.

Cut them almost immediately? Yea right! What were you riding through.....a trail full of sharp knives or something? I have never heard of the cutting problem......and it nevr happend to my tires. Dont be discouraged from buying hutchinsons....they are good tires. PS Dirtgrinder....you have to put air in the tires....:D

Yeah right, read the reviews Klein. I've had 3 cuts in one ride. Hutchinson even knows about it. They sent me two new tires because of it.

Hmmm....
These are all excerpts from different reviews. If you can't see a pattern here......
The first set lasted about 6 months. I slashed the sidewall, but continued to ride for about 2 months. Eventually, of course the sidewall blew out.
After two weeks of riding I tore open the sidewalls on a turn, unpatchable.
i've been riding on these tires for about a month at the most and some how ripped or sliced or something the tread and now the rear tire is junk.
My tire flatted twice on my first ride, and was laughed at by my friends.
After going through 3 tires in one year, all with blown or ripped sidewalls, I can't recomment them.
I have gotten more flats with these in 3 months than i have in a year with previous tires.
I now have 3 Hutchinson Python tires in my closet which are either ripped on the side wall or pinch flatten on bead which is non-repairable.
I CAN ONLY GET ABOUT 4 RIDES IN BEFORE THE SIDEWALLS CUT. I went through 4 tires this summer.
The side walls on them seem to be very weak i have torn three.
However, I have torn sidewalls on both the UST and tube versions.
The sidewall is definately a problem as mentioned by others. I blew out mine on a typical jagged rock.

Omg I guess I need to make up for your blindness.....Good reviews are: (Read from the bottom up....my god)
This is the best tire I have ridden in some time. perfect for the conditions in so-cal. Did i metion this tire is sub 500g?
The best tire for dry trails !
I'm surprised there's no review 4 this remarkable tire.
If you don't mind the feeling of riding with squishy tires these are great. (you can pump them up to higher pressures, but then what's the point?) Good traction, REALLY fast smooth rolling tires that offer some degree of suspension when run at the recomended low pressures.
Great tire and tube system, but added an honest half lb. over other tires w/xtralight tubes.
The Pythons are the BEST TIRES I'VE RIDDEN!!!! Waaaayyyyy fast and lots of traction. I didn't realize what I was missing.
All tires should be made like the Pythons.
These are the best tires I have ever tried bar none.
The Python is, without question, the best all around tire that I have used.
I bought these tires based on the reviews on mtbreview and have been very happy with them.
So on and SO ON.....TONS MORE GOOD REVIEWS. No problems with mine either....maybe all those other idiots need to learn how to not ride with a knife in their hand trying to slash their own tires!!!
but whatever....lets not get all pissed at eachother over this bs tire crap.:D

I always go with the negative reviews. You know they have ridden their bikes hard. You don't know that the other people haven't just ridden around the block a few times or around their yard. Or on smooth dirt paths. Sharp rocks will cut these tires to pieces. I know for a fact.
I guess some of us just ride harder than others. ;)

I had a set of Hutchinson pythons on my specialized on my crossmax rims, the only problem i had was that I actually got a pinch flat from them! I was bunnyhoppin' a curb and my rear tire hit it and boom! all the air went out, the front tire has been on there almost a year, and is great!
