This is a new one for me. Usually, I am trying not to get hit by SUV's and trucks.
Well, this afternoon, I was finishing off a 50 mile ride. This segment of my ride is
a paved bike path. It's off the road and parallels a canal.
I look up and see a golf cart about 1000' away speeding towards me. But this isn't just
any golf cart, it's a souped up, gas powered, big tyred SUV of golf carts.
Now for the big suprise: The driver wasn't paying attention. He had 2 kids with him, one
of which is in his lap. All 3 were looking in the canal. At about 50' out it occured to me
that he wasn't going to stop. I stopped and yelled a sharp "HEY!!" The guy swerves
several more times and nearly plunges into the canal (poor kids). All were ok but
they looked shocked that there was a bike.....on a bike path.
For the record, I was on a path...with a bike symbol on it....thus the term "BIKE PATH"
Just a rant.
I feel better.
