General Cycling Discussion - Has anybody heard of Nordic Track bicycles?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My sister said she saw a Nordic Track bicycle at a shop in Michigan. She doesn't know much about bicycles, but she liked the way this one looked.
She is asking for my advice as to whether to buy it or not, but I have never seen one. By her description, it sounds like a cross-bike or a comfort bike.
Have you ever heard of a Nordic Track bicycle? What do you know about it?

I myself have never heard of Nordic Track making bikes, I just did several searches and did not come up with any on them, I even tried nordic trek bikes, nothing there either.. Are you sure that's the name she saw?

Guess I didn't look hard enough, they look pretty cool, and nordic track name is a good name, Prices seem reasonable, the old style beach cruiser at the bottom looks pretty neat. If they aren't asking the same price as a new one, get it, and let us know how it rides, I am looking for another bike, so keep us posted on it.
Guess we all learn something new everyday,,,,, slap me around like a little girl and call me susan!
I was expecting a type of K-mart bike, but I looked at the link, and the bikes look pretty decent. Why not go for it? Let us know how she likes it.
I think she is looking at the 7-speed beach cruiser style.
It has the Shimano 7-speed internal hub which I think is a really good idea for many casual riders.
It has an aluminum frame which can be good, depending on quality. I don't think she is going to put enough demand on it to cause failures.
Has positive brakes. The price is around $300.00, so no big deal.
You know, if she likes the look, I would be tempted to outfit her with a REAL classic bike, but switch the hub to the 7-speed internal hub.
Keep the info coming, folks. I guess that Nordic Track produced some kind of four wheeled human powered vehicle which was prone to failures. Soon after that, Nordic Track went bancrupt and left a lot of angry customers in the dark.
Nordic Track is now under new ownership. Maybe the machines are of better quality.
I haven't seen any reviews, though.

I wonder who makes the frames? There aren't that many titanium full suspension bikes ... and that is quite a low price. J C Hemmer? New name for me.

"The NordicTrack VX5000 is simply the pinnacle of off-road biking technology." Oh reeeeeeally?
"Titanium Frame - Rated Frame of the Year! "
Wow.....
"revolutionary JC Hemmer disc brake technology."
Yea right, I bet they dont even work....and they dont have a website for being so "revolutionary".
Their fs bikes have the same type of 3d link design as rocky mountain. I'd go with a real name brand bike, not some hyped up fitness company.

Boy, I don't know. It is a toss up between this and the Smith & Wesson (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9748&highlight=smith+and+wesson) :D

I share your concerns, KM99. One of the fitness equipment vendors introduced an auto-shifting piece of junk a few years ago.

Could this (http://www.hemmer-motos.com/) be the elusive JC Hemmer?

Surely you don't mean the Autobike! (https://www.seattletraders.com/cgi-bin/mshopper.cgi?key=CB4100&STOREID=00001&PREADD=ACTION)
A friend of mine had one of these in his bike shop a few years back (someone had given it to him). The curved, weighted pieces of plastic on the back wheel push in or out as you pedal, forcing the chain to shift. You can imagine how much fun we all had with that sorry system. :p
