I started biking with "onroad" or "offroad"

Now there is a few more definitions. feel free to add or correct the following.

Then there was mountain biking, which needs a mountain.
Downhill was mountain biking without the "going up" part.
Cross counrty- offroad with more distance and smaller (less than 20') bumps.
Freeride....WHAT THE HELL IS FREE RIDE!?

Road bike. Needs a road
Touring, on road biking for people who don't know when to quit.
Cyclocross- Road bike what touches dirt? (any help on this one?)

What did I miss?

Freeride has so many definitions it's impossible to define it.

To ME, freeride is like DH, but with more stunts/tricks/style involved. FR bikes are also a bit less burly than DH bikes.

And urban, which as the name implies, is ridden in an urban setting. It's alot like BMX, but the bikes are different.

What about time trial? Or triathalon? Or BMX? Or urban assault? Or velodrome racing? Or tall-bike jousting?

So many little categories, its hard to remember that at the end of the day its just a body and two wheels. :)

sam
