General Cycling Discussion - So I set a goal for myself.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

10 miles a day. I know it's not that much riding, but considering I leave the house at around 7:00AM five days a week, and I often don't get home from work until 8:00 or 9:00PM, I don't have as much time as I'd like for cycling.
I'm going to force myself to make the time - even if it's just 40 minutes a day to get in 10 miles or so.

goals are good.
Maybe you could try riding a trainer once in awhile? I know it isn't the same as being outside but it would allow you to get some more saddle time.

That's a pretty high goal if you think about it. Can you ride during lunch? Good luck reaching your goal!
Ever thought about bike commuting? My commute allows me to ride 17-22 miles a day.

10 miles a day = 3,650 miles a year. Reduce that to 3,000 miles due to rain & cold weather.
It's 2,800 miles from Los Angeles to New York City, so your 10 mile goal would take you coast to coast with a couple of hundred extra miles for sightseeing. Not bad.

Reduce that to about 240 days a year in this part of the country unless you're a real die hard. My goal here this year is 2K

I know what you mean about cold weather. In January our average daytime temp is 57 degrees. Brrrrrr.
