Introductions - Hello, Hello (Hola!)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello everyone! I've been lurking for about a week and just signed up for an account tonight. My current ride is a GT Timberline (1999, I believe) which my Current girlfriend bought used for me after someone stole my Diamondback a couple years ago. I bike to and from the T in Boston and am considering the occasional 14 or 15 mile trek (one way) to work along the bikepath.
I'm going to be the annoying guy asking "What's that?" a lot. 90% of what I've read so far goes right over my head. I'm a complete newbie!
Welcome, I've been biking for several decades and much of what I read goes over my head as well. I just live by the rule that if I find my pedal in the up position, I move it to the down position. With this simple philosophy I have managed even century rides. I really don't worry about whether I am in a 52/12 or a 30/25 gear. I just pick one that seems to work for me and return to the philosophy mentioned above. Keep it simple, Derek. Keep it enjoyable. I would die for a 14-15 miles trek to work along a bikepath.
I don't think anyone has noticed the reference in your title, but greetings from a fellow U2 fan (note the digits embedded in my name! LOL!)
I am relatively new to all of this too....I'm sure we'll see each other around on the boards. :)
