I currently have a CamelBak Razor and I am considering upgrading to a Mule. Anybody have experience with them? My primary concern is how waterproof they are. It's getting close to thunderstorm time and I need something to keep my basic items(cell phone etc) dry during wet rides.

The best way to keep small items dry is to put them inside zip lock bags. If it's really valuable, use two bags. I don't trust any bag to keep things dry for an extended period of rain.

Agreed. I even do this with my "waterproof" messenger bag

More of the same. Ziplock is a good thing.

On the up side, my MULE has survived thousands of miles of punishment.

mine is also going strong, including the daily slinging off my back.

I ended up with a Mule by accident because the shop did not have a slightly smaller size which I thought I might need. I decided to go bigger than smaller. It has ended up being one of the most valuable accessories I own. I definitely second the ziplocks mentioned earlier, but I would rate my Mule as 5 out of 5.

Thanks for the feedback. I never thought of using ziplock bags.

We were going to get a pair of M.U.L.E.s until my girlfriend discovered that that the place we were ordring them through only had one color on sale. She didn't want them to match so she paid the difference so I could get a Blowfish. Women

5 years later they're still going strong

I got a MULE and a box full of ziplocs. I just wish I could have got it in the desert camo, like the small camelbak I have.

Just because something is labelled with "water proof", you can never be to safe.

I have a 9-Year old MULE. Still use it on occasion, but the main zipper doesn't work anymore. I bought a new MULE last year, BTW. It is much harder to load the bladder than the old one, but other than that it's an overall improvement.

No, unfortunately my eyesight kept me out of the Marine Corps. But my buddy went, He was home on leave and got his hands on the updated version (more loops). He gave me his old one. Also how I got a digi desert camo dump hat.
